Professor Gilbert M. Khadiagala - Jan Smuts Professor of International Relations University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. Trained as a political scientist with diverse intellectual interests in African security, conflict resolution, governance, and leadership. Currently researching state formation in Southern Sudan, probing the internal, regional, and international constraints on novel statehoods. He also still retains an abiding fascination with regionalism in Eastern and Southern Africa.
