Leonid Fituni

Summary

Leonid Fituni is Deputy Director of the Institute for African Studies, Department for Global Problems and International Relations, Russian Academy of Sciences and Head of the Centre for Global and Strategic Studies of the same institution. He also works as Professor of the Institute of Asia and Africa, Lomonosov Moscow State University. For his contribution to the development of science in 1995, Leonid was awarded the decoration “In Appreciation” by the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom) and in 2011 the “Order of Friendship” (Russia).

The main areas of his scientific interest include: international economic relations, global and strategic studies, international finance, socio-economic problems of developing countries. Among the first Russian scholars, he started systemic studies of the globalization destructive consequences on developing and transitional societies. He is the author and editor of more than 30 books and about 300 articles.

Prof. Fituni is also the Chairman of the Dissertation council on Economics at the RAS Institute for African Studies, Deputy Chairman of the Academic Council – the supreme collegial academic body of the RAS Institute for African Studies, a member of a number of the journal’s editorial boards, including “International Money Laundering Control” (London) and “Sicherheitspolitik” (Zurich).
